FROM May 8, 2024, TO January 4, 2026, KAŇKŮV HALL
The most extensive rescue archaeological excavations in the Pardubice region from 2017 to 2023 revealed the history hidden beneath eleven roads totaling 91 kilometers. From over 200,000 archaeological finds, the most interesting and representative discoveries have been selected. Visitors can look forward to, for example, the oldest Neolithic well from Ostrov, reconstructed experimentally by contemporary archaeologists using Stone Age tools. Also featured are selections of jewelry, tools, and ceramic vessels from a Bronze Age cemetery in Rokytno. An exclusive sight includes the contents of two rich graves from the Migration Period from Slatiňany. Visitors will see the original and a modern replica of a warrior's sword made of pattern-welded steel, as well as glass vessels that traveled to Central Europe from the Syrian coast. A portion of the exhibition will reveal the background of the archaeologists' work and other collaborating scientific disciplines.
